Shelly Beach (Māori: Aotea), officially named Aotea / Shelly Beach, is a serene settlement and beach on the eastern side of Te Korowai-o-Te-Tonga Peninsula, bordering the southwest Kaipara Harbour. Accessible via Helensville and SH16, it is close to Parakai. The beach features a boat ramp, a jetty, and offers stunning views of the harbour. Historically, it was known as Te Aukahanga o Aotea, marking the visit of the Aotea waka, and was the site of a Ngāti Whātua parliament in 1884. In 2018, a seawall and groynes were built to combat erosion.
